LA Metro Transportation Career Academy Program Internship- Jordyn Belle Jackson

Last week marked the beginning of my internship with the LA Metro Transportation Career Academy Program (TCAP).

This summer program offers 180 selected interns a unique opportunity to explore transportation careers and apply classroom knowledge at the nation’s second-largest public transportation agency.

Over the next seven weeks, I will help develop a project to present to Metro which aims to enhance their services.

On the first day, we reviewed policies, learned best practices for customer service, and discussed the specifics of our purpose. I am excited to see what we will accomplish by our commencement on August 2nd and the positive change we can create.

Bold Journey Magazine: Meet Jordyn Jackson

When Bold Journey Magazine reached out to interview me, I took advantage of the opportunity to inspire other young change-makers. In this article, I shared the origin of Soaring Samaritans Youth Movement and SOAR Jewels. I provided advice to those who want to become community and business leaders at a young age and explained the importance of developing a growth mindset. Three pillars that have consistently led me to the path of success are openness, patience, and organization. Managing my non-profit with my extracurriculars has been a challenge I have had to overcome. While running a socially responsible jewelry business, I have had to become extremely organized when managing inventory, pricing, packaging, and attending boutiques.

Through Soaring Samaritans and SOAR Jewels, I have learned many valuable lessons on how to be a successful business owner at a young age. The lessons and hurdles I have been exposed to shape who I am today, and I am excited to have been given the platform to share them with you.
